Paris Saint-Germain has signed Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria on a five-year contract, reportedly worth $49.6 million ($52.8 million in euros).
The signing is the latest in a string of high-profile acquisitions by PSG this summer, with the French club looking to build upon its title-winning campaign last season.
Di Maria is a prolific goal-scorer and a talented playmaker who can operate in a variety of positions across midfield. He will join fellow Argentine Edinson Cavani and Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. as key members of the team's attack.
"Angel brings a lot of experience and quality to our squad," PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said in a statement. "We're thrilled to have him join us."
Di Maria spent two seasons at Manchester United before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2014. He scored 47 goals in 171 appearances for the Red Devils, including a memorable hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
He also played for Real Madrid and Inter Milan before returning to Argentina with Boca Juniors, where he won three league titles and two Copa Libertadores.
With his arrival, PSG now boasts one of the most dangerous attacking trios in world football, combining the skill and pace of Neymar Jr., the creativity of Di Maria, and the clinical finishing of Cavani.
Overall, the signing of Di Maria is a major coup for PSG, adding another dimension to its already formidable attacking force. The Argentine's talent and experience should help propel the club towards even greater success in the coming years.
